Mosstowie 35 Year Old Single Cask by Signatory (Cask 1357)
Tasting Note by Our Malt Master
Mosstowie is another whisky that hold a brand name from another distillery. Using the Lomond Still in Miltonduff, this kind of still give the master blender a higher degree of control over the spirit from his distillery. This lesser-know name can defenitly give you a surprise if you have never tried it before.
AVB: 49.1
Maturation: Bourbon
Chill-Filtration: Yes
Nose: A major alcoholic burn in front. After you get pass it, it is very fruity and complex. Vanilla, soft honey, orange candy, mint and maybe some elderflower in the back. It is so complex you cannot really pin-point notes out one by one.
Palate: A flavour bomb once you put it in your mouth. Fresh red apple, orange peel, honey, jasmine and sweetness from dried fruit all come out at the same time. The more you hold it in your mouth the more fruity it become.
Finish: Very long and comfortable. Brown sugar and some thick honey supported with just enough oak. After another minute, it develop into a elegant fruit tea in the end.
